There are several options for volunteering at Gateway Fire Protection District.
EMS
To become an ambulance driver one must complete a background check and fingerprinting, familiarize yourself with EMS supplies in the ambulance, and go on many ride-alongs with veteran drivers.

To become an EMT, an extensive class is required. This is a self-paced, online classes with practical skills for 4 days in Boise, Idaho, at the end of approximately six (6) months.

Training with the EMS Director is every 1st Wednesday of the month at 6pm.

Volunteers are asked to volunteer for at least 2 3-hour-shifts every week.

Volunteers are paid for their time on-call and their time should they be toned out on a call.
Please contact EMS Administrator, Daedra Chapman, at 208-686-1313 or 208-582-6635 for more information.

Fire
To become a volunteer firefighter, you will need to complete training with our Fire Chief. Based on when classes run, you should be able to complete the Firefighter 1 class within six months.

Support Staff
Support Staff help in the District is on an as-needed basis, sometimes with very short notice. Duties depend on the interests and capabilities of the volunteers.

-Drive specific trucks to fires when specialized licenses are required.
-Attend community events to encourage volunteerism
-Help prepare goodie bags and giveaways for community events.
